Trailer of SRK's My Name Is Khan

My name Is Khan Trailer| My Name is Khan Teaser

Shahrukh stayed in character even at home

Karan Johar has revealed that Shah Rukh Khan stayed in character even at home for his role as an autistic man in the director’s latest film My Name is Khan.

Karan Johar described Khan’s character as similar to that of Dustin Hoffman in Rain Man.

Karan johar said “It’s true Shah Rukh remained in character as Rizwan Khan even at home. At home in his body language he’s always Rizwan. I see him doing it all the time. I don’t think he has got out of it. Even when he’s with his children at home.”

Real Deal Price of SRK’s ‘My Name Is Khan’

So what's the Real price of ‘My Name Is Khan’? Has Fox Star Studios India paid a massive Rs. 100 crores for the global rights of the film [excluding music rights]? Or is the actual price Rs. 81 crores? The speculation continues...
"It's a privilege to be associated with Karan Johar and Shah Rukh Khan. It can't get bigger than that. But the price is completely not 100 crores or 81 crores. I wouldn't like to reveal the exact numbers, but it's completely off the mark," Vijay Singh, CEO of Fox Star Studios India, breaks his silence on this topic.

But what holds significance is that the film in question would be released extensively in the international markets. "My Name Is Khan has tremendous international appeal and would be released by Fox Searchlight in America and 20th Century Fox across the globe. We aren't looking at a fancy print count to begin with, but we would take it beyond the Indian diaspora. Like ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ was released at a mere 10 screens when it started out in America, but the screen count gradually rose to almost 3,000, thanks to a systematic strategy. That would be the strategy for ‘My Name Is Khan’ as well," Vijay Singh divulges.

'My name is Khan'- Set flooded

Trust Karan Johar to make his film look perfect. The director has already worked on making his film set for My Name Is Khan look authentic. He is now planning to shoot for a flood sequence on the sets and has ordered for liters of water in tankers for the scene. But the kind director that he is, he did not want the team to fall sick after shooting for the whole day in waist-deep water. For that reason he got waterproof costumes made by designer Shiraj Siddiqui.

Karan is anxious, as this will be a difficult and intricate scene. The whole set will be under water for the next few days. This will be one of the most important parts of the film. Karan is very worried about the unit’s health so everyone except for Shahrukh and Kajol will be wearing waterproof costumes, as the lead actors have to be seen in their look for the film.

The official Poster (first look) of Karan Johar’s My Name Is Khan is out and it does look good. And its not a surprises, serious gloomy kinda look and feel, about which we are telling you for long now is clearly visible. But yes its quite different from what we have come to expect from Karan Johar films. Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna, was meant be serious and path breaking but turned out to be one of the biggest disappointments of 2006. WIll MNIK indeed be any differnt? Shorter runtime and fewer song and dance routines would help..!

Do tell us what do you think About the posters, by way of your comments below.

Shahrukh Khan Detained At US Airport becuase his name KHAN

Superstar Shah Rukh Khan has confirmed to CNN-IBN that he was detained at the Newark-New Jersey airport on Friday night when he was in transit to Chicago.

Shah Rukh Khan spoke exclusively with CNN-IBN and admitted he was shocked at the behaviour of the immigration officials.

The actor said he was told he had a “common name” and hence the questioning was required.

“It was in Newark where I was detained for questioning. It was because they said my name was common to some name that popped up on the computer. They were asking me silly questions like if I knew someone in the US who could vouch for me, if I could give them numbers of people they could get in touch with,” he said.

“I had all the documents; they were asking me where I was going to be staying. I gave the name of FOX people with whom I had finalised a deal a few days ago as contacts. I kept on giving numbers. They wanted to know why I came here,” he said.

My Name is Khan, picked up by Fox for whopping 100 corer

Being called as one of the biggest blockbusters of the 2010 even before its release, Shahrukh-kajol starrer 'My Name is Khan' recently touched upon another landmark.

Video Report

There's a reason why they call him King Khan even today and when he teams up with longtime friend and Bollywood's hottest producer-director Karan Johar it's a formula for blockbusters.

And that's reason enough for Fox Studio to put its money in what could arguably be the biggest Bollywood deal ever.

Fox Star Studios, who distributed oscar winner 'Slumdog Millionare' in India have reportedly picked up the rights of the Karan Johar biggie for a whopping Rs. 100 crore.

"It will be a very big deal for Fox. It catapults them to the big league. It can't get bigger than KJo, SRK in Bollywood," said Komal Nahata, Film Trade Analyst.

The movie has been receiving rave reviews from the critics who have managed to catch rushes of the movie. 'My name is Khan' has been receiving a lot of audience attention as it brings back the legendary pairing of the Raj and Simran of Bollywood aka Shahrukh-Kajol.
The critics who managed to hear some of music from the movie composed by trio Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy were overwhelmed and consider the album to be potential chartbuster.

Wiritten by Shibani Bhatija, the movie deals with a Muslim (Shah Rukh) who suffers from the Asperger syndrome, a form of autism that impacts social interaction abilities, who is arrested as a suspected terrorist in post-9/11 Los Angeles after authorities mistake his disability for suspicious behaviour.
Just as it is said, nothing sells better in Bollywood than Shahrukh Khan.. all of us await the arrival of 'Khan'.

Such a big buyout especially when many producers have failed to seal deals will certainly raise eyebrows and reiterate King Khan's saleability factor in the box office.

Till date Aamir Khan's Ghajini (Rs 90 crore0 has topped the buyout list, Om Shanti Om (Rs75 crore) stood second highest followed by Akshay Kumar's Singh is Kinng (Rs 60 crore) and Welcome (Rs 40 crore).

But for Fox Star Studio that's Fox's Joint Venture with STAR is a high stakes game. After the runaway success of Slumdog Millionaire, Fox clearly leads the pack compared to its global rivals Warner Bros and Sony whose Hindi productions Sawariya and Chandni Chowk To China have all bombed at the box office.

But experts say with SRK's global popularity, My Name is Khan will be one of the highest grossers for the overseas Box Office. No wonder Fox is betting on a 2010 project of SRK despite the rather lukewarm response of his Billu and Rab Ne Bana De Jodi.

As per official reports My name is khan will release on Feb,2010.

SRK & K'Jo Keen to release My Name Is Khan this year

Karan Johar, just back from US, after a gruelling 2 month long shoot for Shahrukh Khan and Kajol’s My Name Is Khan, talks about his next, Dostana 2, his birthday bash, Agneepath remake.. and a lot more in an interview with Mid-day.

You must be bummed about My Name Is Khan not releasing this year.
Karan Johar: Both Shah Rukh and I were keen to release it this year. But there were some factors that were beyond our control. Now, because of this delay, Shah Rukh doesn’t have a release this year and that is unfortunate. But the circumstances were beyond our control.

Some of the delay was caused by his surgery?
Karan Johar: Not really. Yes, the surgery did push us ahead but also the fact that this is a very tough film to film. Other factors have delayed it. A lot of scheduling had to be done… also there was a lot of computer graphic work. So, we just took a call that we won’t be rushing for no rhyme or reason. Let’s not push it.

So early next year?
Hopefully. We are looking at a January or February release (in 2010).

But you have Kurban and Wake Up Sid ready for release. How involved are you as a producer?
Karan Johar: Up to a point, really. I need to have faith in the director, which I obviously do, because that’s why he is directing a film for me. Once we go through the process of greenlighting the script, scheduling, and structuring the cast and list of technicians, I step out. Because I feel like every filmmaker has to find his or her voice. And there is no point in me sitting there and confusing them. I think that every individual whether it is Tarun or Aayan, or Rensil everyone has his own voice and it has nothing to do with me.

True. Dostana didn’t look like a film directed by you, Kal Ho Na Ho did.
Karan Johar: (Pauses) Dostana is definitely all Tarun. Of course, it has the prerequisites of a Dharma film, like the glamour, the costuming and the whole look and feel but it’s otherwise the performances, the way he moves the story ahead. It’s Tarun’s baby.

And is the sequel (to Dostana) happening?
Karan Johar: It’s definitely happening,

Abhishek and John Abraham are in?
Karan Johar: We can’t do Dostana 2 without John and Abhishek. They are indispensable.

And Katrina Kaif is on for the sequel?
Karan Johar: We haven’t decided any other cast of Dostana 2 (apart from John and Abhishek).

They were some people who felt offended because you left them out of your Birthday party, will they be in your next guest list?
Karan Johar: Everyone who is important to me was there.

Why did you change the title from Jihaad (Kurban). Also, any worries about your film being similar to New York?
Karan Johar: Rensil was never keen on this title because he wanted the title to resonate the love story much more than the terror angle. Both Rensil and I feel that the love story is the basic moving point of this film. Comparisons to New York are inevitable because they revolve around global terrorism but there are no similarities except maybe atmospheric one, that’s bound to happen because they are both about a certain issue. Otherwise, story-wise and narrative-wise, they are totally different films.

There were reports of tension between you and Aditya Chopra because of the similar subjects.
Karan Johar: I would be really stupid to be best friends with Adi and make the same film. Both Adi and I were completely in the loop of it. What saddens me is that, now, for no reason there will be a comparison whereas it could’ve been avoided. Kurban is entirely different from New York. And I hope that like New York got accepted, this one will too.

Dharma was known for certain kind of films..but now that’s changing. Even the film you are making is different. Would you want to revisit what you are best known for?
Karan Johar: For me, there is never going back, there is always going forward. I think that films I produced and directed were my sensibility at the time. I feel like doing things that make a difference to me today. Whatever I am producing and directing are films I feel like doing today. I don’t think I can write a Kuch Kuch Hota Hai or a Kabhie Khushi Kabhi Gham ever again.

Not even if people expect that from you?
Karan Johar: I get a lot of people coming and telling me, ‘Make another KKHH.’ I can’t. I don’t have that innocence, I don’t have that rawness and I don’t have that love for love anymore. And so it doesn’t come to me naturally. It would be me, trying to be me in 1998, and I am not interested. I want to do films that move me today. Some times they are subjects that have social relevance and sometimes they are subjects that are simple and sweet. Like Wake-up Sid. I am so excited because Dharma is producing so many films and we are working with new energies and talent, and they are bringing their own ideas. A lot of these films I am incapable of making on my own, so I am happy to produce them.

What about (the remake of) Agneepath
Karan Johar: Agneepath is a very important film for me. My father’s (yash Johar) biggest disappointment in life was the failure of Agneepath. Because it was so respected, so revered and had a huge cult following but commercially, it didn’t do well. Also I think it was one of Amit uncle’s finest performances. I remember that it broke my father’s heart at that point that they didn’t refer to it as a commercial success, and he always brought it up. And I decided to do this remake for him, and hopefully, it will work this time.

One hears that you are considering Hrithik for the role. Wouldn’t Abhishek be a natural choice for it?
Karan Johar: We haven’t cast it as yet. That will come when the scripting is ready. We are changing the film. It will be more modern; set in present time. It will be more like a biopic of an underworld don.

My Name Is Khan is your most expensive film yet?
Karan Johar: Yes, it is. We always knew it was going to be a big film, but with recession, and changes in the dollar price, it became more expensive, and now Shah Rukh has stepped in as co-producer to help me.

Shahrukh Khan on RA 1, My Name Is Khan and controversies..

Extracts from a India-West interview with Shahrukh Khan. SRK talks about the controversies that continue to surround him, his chemistry with Kajol, his next My Name Is Khan and all his upcoming films.

SRK refuses to let controversies rule his life

I think it’s unimportant. I don’t want to waste time from things I like to do, like making movies or having intelligent conversations with intelligent people. Watch a movie. Work on my laptop. Spend some time with my children. Think of a script and do what I do best..

I don’t know why they do what they do. I do it because I’m moving on to do some other project that needs to be released. You don’t like ‘Barber’? Take it out. If I walk out of here and there are 500 people standing there, and I turn around and some girl says, ‘You hurt me,’ I won’t ask her why. I won’t ask her how. I won’t say, ‘What the hell are you saying?’ I will just say, ‘I’m sorry if I’ve hurt you. I don’t know how, but I’m sorry.’ And I’ll move on. Because whenever people say, ‘I love you,’ I don’t ask them why. I just say, Thank you very much. So I have neither the right, nor the time, nor the inclination, to sit down. As a matter of fact, to sit down and explain your point of view to a lot of people I find it boring. I’m unsocial when it comes to wanting to explain things that are unimportant.”

On the media and Michael Jackson

Those days are gone when you read the newspaper and believed everything you read in it. I don’t hold it against anyone. You guys [the media] are now like UPS, like Fedex. You have to get it in time. The line between entertainment and news is completely obliterated. When I see the unfortunate coverage of Michael Jackson, I want to see it too. The funny part is, I’m a party to it. I want to see as much of it as possible, right or wrong. So I’m as much to blame. That’s how the world is now. I feel when all this is happening, it’s all fun. Let it go on. I need to do the things which are not fun, which are more important. It’s never that I’ve backed out. If people think ‘He got scared,’ good enough. These days when I meet people I think instead of saying ‘Hello’ I should say, I’m sorry.

On his chemistry with Kajol

We have no chemistry at all. It’s a misnomer! We laugh at this every time. I don’t know what chemistry is. Neither does Kajol. Neither does Karan (Johar). Unless you’re sleeping with each other, you don’t understand what chemistry is. And I don’t sleep with any of my heroines. I go to work, we have fun together, I’ve said this a million times. I think ‘chemistry’ is a term used from the outside — how it looks on the screen. I wouldn’t know, because I’m inside the screen. When I see me and Kajol in a film, I find what we’ve done personally before it comes on screen better than what comes off screen.

Sometimes I shout at her because she’s younger to me. I get very, very angry with her. If you see us together on the set and I’m shouting at her, you’ll find there is no chemistry like that!

Working with Kajol and Karan Johar

I love working with Kajol and Karan. I’ve done 65 films and not one has been done keeping in mind the expectations of what people would like to see. The idea is always that I will do something and make sure that people like it. Why would we get together 15 years later and make ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ again? One has to give us a little credit for a little bit of growing up that we have also done.

Obviously it’s not ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai.’ That film was made by better-looking, younger people than us. We’ve done ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham,’ ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ and ‘Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge.’ They have an inherent niceness in terms of love. This film (referring to My Name Is Khan) will have a lot of love. I only make love stories; even ‘Don’ was a love story.

On his character, Rizvan Khan in My Name Is Khan

The character I’m playing has Asperger’s, a milder form of autism. I’ve studied a lot, met a lot of people, and read a lot of books on it. When I was young, I used to work with autistic children in theater. I’ve always had this desire to do a character — it’s not a disability — I’ve always wanted to try and understand how a mind works that works differently than mine and yours. Just because we don’t understand things does not mean they’re not well. I may get sued for saying this, but I think of Asperger’s and autism as the way we’re going to evolve. The mind is going to become much more logical, less passionate and emotional.

More on the the film

The film is about the relationship between the Western world and Islam and how that has changed over the past few years. The journey of one family and how it changes because of 9/11, we touch upon that in a very unbiased and educated way. It was important to play this guy, and it was important for me, as a Muslim. I know a lot of things that I have felt sometimes, and tried to utilize that. Some of my childhood education about Islam has come in handy, too. It’s an important film and I hope people understand it and like it.

Talking of the superhero film RA 1, Khan says his shoulder continues to be a worry.

I wanted to make it, and I want to start it. Prashant (Shah, line producer for My Name Is Khan) is the producer here, and I’ve been troubling him for months now. Part of it is to be shot here. It’s a special film for me. I want to put on my tights and my kids blanket on my back. I want to do this film for my children. I’ve always wanted to make a superhero film, but I never had six-pack abs. Now that I have them, I want to do this. It’s not an animation film, as many people believe; I would like to clarify that. It’s a live action film.

I’m getting a little depressed about my injury because for me to do something physically active, such as Farah Khan’s Happy New Year, Don 2 or Ravan (RA 1) I have to be physically fit, and I don’t see that happening until about October or November. These are the three films that I will start working on as soon as I get better.”

On his life and work

I don’t work for posterity or prosperity. I work because I want to work. I just hope my kids learn from the good things that I know and not from the bad things that I have done. Hopefully, I will have a happy and healthy life. I tell my kids, remember me as someone who tried very hard.

My Name Is Khan: a film on serious issue, left Karan Johar stressed out

My name is Khan, a film which deals with serious issues, is directed by Karan Johar and brings Shahrukh Khan and Kajol together onscreen after a very long time. Fans are excited to see the movie release but Karan Johar was very upset when actor Aamir Bashir was denied a visa to the US..

After making candy floss romances, Karan’s latest directorial venture is “diametrically opposite” to his earlier films.

“You know, on the very first day of shooting my cameraman Ravi Chandran looked at me and said, ‘I don’t think you’ve ever shot something like this’. Shah Rukh plays a completely different human being … I’ve never directed that person before,”- Karan Johar.
But he had his share of problems too.

“Yes, there were problems. We had certain legal issues. We had to make some changes to accommodate the developments. They were sorted out. I believe in completely going by the law of every land. That’s what we did in LA (Los Angeles) when troubles arose,” said Karan, who replaced Aamir with Jimmy Sheirgil in the movie.

Were you upset with Aamir for going to the press about the visa problem?

“I don’t see why the issue had to be reported so prominently in the Indian media. It complicated things for me. If creating hurdles for a filmmaker on a difficult foreign location makes news, so be it. It constantly kept creating stress for me,” he added.

Written by Shibani Bathija, “My Name Is Khan” is about a Muslim (Shah Rukh) who suffers from the Asperger syndrome, a form of autism that impacts social interaction abilities, and he is arrested as a suspected terrorist in post-9/11 Los Angeles after authorities mistake his disability for suspicious behaviour.

Excerpts from the interview:

Q: You could make a film on the things that happened during your Los Angeles schedule of “My Name Is Khan”.

A: Besides normal problems, there were unforeseen problems. Thank god for my fabulous technical team. Without them I could never make my film the way I want to. Yes, there was stress.

Q: There were visa problems for some Muslim members of your cast?

A: Yes, there were problems. We had certain legal issues. We had to make some changes to accommodate the developments. They were sorted out. I believe in completely going by the law of every land. That’s what we did in LA when troubles arose.

Q: Was Aamir replaced by Jimmy Sheirgil after a great deal of deliberation?

A: Yes, we did have to do some serious re-thinking. I spoke to my casting director Shanu Sharma for immediate release. I was very happy to have Jimmy Sheirgil on board. I had done his clothes for Aditya Chopra’s “Mohabbatein”. So I know him from his debut. It was unfortunate that things didn’t work out with Aamir Bashir. Like Jimmy, he was terrific in “A Wednesday”. I look forward to working with him some other time.

Q: Were you upset with Aamir Bashir for going to the press about the visa problem?

A: I don’t blame anyone for the situation. I don’t see why the issue had to be reported so prominently in the Indian media. It complicated things for me. If creating hurdles for a filmmaker on a difficult foreign location makes news, so be it. It constantly kept creating stress for me.

Q: Was it a painful experience to shoot in LA?

A: In all my 11 years as a filmmaker, I’ve never felt the experience to be so different. Content-wise “My Name Is Khan” is diametrically opposite to whatever I’ve done in the past. You know, on the very first day of shooting my cameraman Ravi Chandran looked at me and said, ‘I don’t think you’ve ever shot something like this.’

It is for the first time I’m directing a screenplay I haven’t written myself. This gives me a level of detachment from the proceedings and yet a lot of attachment. It has released a plethora of unexplored emotions in my head.

This time I’m being creative in a different ways. And Shah Rukh plays a completely different human being … I’ve never directed that person before. It took a few days for all of us to get into the groove. How this exploration of a new territory will turn out, no one knows.

My Name Is Khan:K JO looking for Obama

MNIK: SRK and Obama in one frame

Karan Johar scouts the streets of America for a man who looks like the US President...for Obama
Shah Rukh Khan and President Barack Obama will soon be sharing Screen time in a Bollywood film. But, there’s a catch. Karan Johar, who is currently filming My Name Is Khan in San Francisco, Sacramento and Novato is scouting around for an Obama lookalike for the film.

A casting agency called Beau Bonneau Casting was recently hired by K JO to make a casting call for the following: “Scenes filmed over these two days will feature the title character Khan and President Obama (look-a-like).

Open to all ethnicities with an emphasis on African American men.” The printed brief further specifies that, ‘the supporters of Khan, who is a spokesper Shah Rukh Khan and President Barack Obama will soon be sharing screentime in a son for peace and tolerance, will have “a more American feel” in these scenes.

The agency is seeking extras of all ethnic backgrounds to film a scene where people of multi ethnicity come together to support Khan.

So, those of you who were worried about the movie being an SRK biopic can relax. ‘Mr Khan’ seems more like an international peace messiah who even manages to rope in Barack Obama for his cause.

SRK and Obama (albeit a lookalike) in one frame — sounds like full paisa wasool.

SRK : I’M A GOOD MUSLIM

Shah Rukh Khan speaks out and says he said nothing to insult his own religion It’s a mistake in the writing format...not a statement that I made. Prophet Mohammed is the most positive figure.

—SHAH RUKH KHAN

Stardom, bringing his much respected faith into it is just not acceptable.

Speaking from S San Francisco, the actor has responded quickly to an FIR lodged in Mumbai after he was quoted in the Time ‘n Style,a supplement of a broadsheet business daily, allegedly calling the Prophet Mohammed a “negative figure” in history.

The FIR, filed by advocate Khalid Babu Querishi claims SRK hurt the religious sentiments of Muslims.

The supplement carried the interview last week and has since published a clarification saying the quote was an error made while editing.

Shah Rukh had, in fact, called Prophet Mohammed “the most impressive positive figure”which was, instead, published in a way that had the actor quoted as saying the Prophet was a negative figure.

The publication carried corrigendums in all it’s editions yesterday saying it “deeply regretted” the error Shah Rukh, who is currently in US shooting for Karan Johar’s My name is Khan said, “It’s a mistake in hah Rukh Khan says that while being dragged into controversies is part and parcel of LIM the writing format…not a statement that I made.

Obviously I think that there is no more important figure in history than Prophet Mohammed in the most positive way possible. Also being a Muslim and standing up for the tenets of Islam is my most important agenda.

He adds, “If they have seen my interviews etc on TV about Islam and Prophet Mohammed, they should know that it (the interview) is a clear writing error and not a thought or view that I believe in. For all practical purposes, Prophet Mohammed is the most important positive figure in Islam, and how can someone possibly question my view on that?” Sources close to Shah Rukh vouch for the fact that the star is always known to be a devout and God-fearing Muslim.

A friend — who has worked with SRK on the advertising campaign of a watch brand — said, “Do you not notice how many times he says Insha Allahwhile speaking…he signs off all his interviews and meetings with Khuda Hafiz.Howcan such a person say anything derogatory against the Prophet?”.

Its release is being postponed now to early 2010.

Hitting a rough patch with not having a successful Box Office chase, Bollywood’s undisputed king Shah Rukh Khan seems to be running out of luck! Post the ‘Billu’ disaster, the dimpled actor is cautious about his new releases and earnestly hopes to hit the bull’s eye with thumping commercial and critical success.

Shah Rukh’s new flick ‘My Name is Khan’ has been postponed and will be releasing in early part of 2010. With the ongoing multiplex-producer row, it seems Shah Rukh is the first to be at the receiving end of this unending feud.

As per the industry grapevine, Shah Rukh Khan is in no mood to abide by the changing release dates of Bollywood flicks. With major shuffling in the release dates, umpteen producers are scuttling for ‘safe Fridays.’ Above all, there is an added concern of running down each other’s business.

With all major apprehensions, Shah Rukh Khan has decided not to release his film in December and this will leave Aamir`s ‘3 Idiots’ and Saif’s ‘Qurbaan’ fight it between themselves.

Hope Shah Rukh has a successful 2010 with ‘My Name is Khan.’

SRK's steps cost 1.5 cr

A mid all the cricket action in South Africa, IPL team owner Shah Rukh Khan popped back to India last night to cast his vote and to perform at a wedding.

Apparently , SRK has been paid a whopping sum — Rs 1 crore to Rs 1.5 crore, industry experts estimate — to perform at the wedding of Nikhil Gowani, nephew of bigleague Mumbai builder Kanti Gowani of the Kamla Group.

Rani Mukerji, Bipasha Basu, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Jaaved Jaffrey and Pritam will also perform at the three-day extravaganza, says our source.

The whole show is being organised by GS Entertainment and choreographed by Shiamak Davar.

The wedding has two major ceremonies — the sangeet today and wedding itself on May 2. SRK, Rani and Emraan are to perform tonight. Bipasha will perform with Neha Dhupia, Celina Jaitley, Neil and Jaaved on the wedding day. “SRK is supposed to dance to a medley of his songs from Billu, Rab Ne Baba Di Jodi, Veer Zara, Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge, Kabhie Khushi Kabhi Gham and Kal Ho Na Ho,” says the source from Shiamak’s dance troupe. “It’s a 10minute performance and he will be joined by Rani in the last sequence.” The show venue is Kamla City, Lower Parel. The invite calls it ‘King Khan night’. However, there is just a possibility that he may be MC for the evening.

SRK had some years ago performed at the wedding of Aditya Mittal, the son of billionaire LN Mittal. He has been quite frank that he acts for love and performs for money .

Considering that his team has been losing, could he be needing the cash?

Three Idiots may clash with My Name is Khan

Now its official that Aamir and Shah Rukh, the two reigning Khans of Bollywood, have a love-hate relationship.

The two love to take digs at each other publicly and then blame the media and the fans for blowing their spats out of proportion, and yet they are also capable of coming together and sharing a stage when it comes to a serious issue like the producers’ strike.

The latest in their turbulent friendship is that Aamir Khan reportedly wants his next film 3 Idiots to clash with the SRK starrer My Name is Khan.

According to sources, Rajkumar Hirani, the director of 3 Idiots, is not keen to take on the intimidating trio of SRK, Kajol and Karan Johar, especially since this is the long awaited on-screen reunion of SRK and Kajol, easily one of Bollywood’s best loved couples.

However, Aamir is determined, and sources even say that he may have deliberately taken a holiday with his kids in order to delay the film.

My Name Is Khan: SRK and K’Jo to jointly produce MNIK

T
hey swear by their dostana and that is the reason why SRK and Karan are joining their hands for My Name is Khan, that was earlier being made under Dharma Productions. The duo would jointly produce the film now.

You must be thing what could be the reason of this sudden decision?

SRK tells in an interview in his trademark style, “Karan doesn’t want to pay me what others pay me; so he said, ‘I can’t underpay you like this, so you be my partner.’ So now, we are jointly producing the film.”

Karan laughs when told about SRK’s comment, “That’s Shah Rukh’s sense of humor but it’s true I can never put down his price on paper”.

With SRK joining the production with Karan our hopes with My Name Is Khan has certainly gone up. With marking of SRK this Flick will definitely rock the box office.

My Name Is Khan: K’Jo convinced Javed Akhtar to write title track of MNIK

Javed Akhtar will write the title track of MY Name Is Khan. After refusing to share the credits for the film with any other writer for some time, lyricist Javed Akhtar has now approved to write the title song of Karan Johar’s My Name is Khan. The film’s other songs(basically back ground scores.) have been penned by Niranjan Iyengar.

He’s worked with him in Kal Ho Na Ho and Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna and wanted him to be a part of My Name is Khan as well. However, Javed saab was clear that he didn’t want to share the lyricist tag since Niranjan has penned two Sufi songs for the film.”

As the film is based on a sensitive issue, K’Jo wanted Akhtar to pen down a song that matches the mood of the plot. A source close to Jave Akhtar said, “Javed saab is making an exception for Karan because he’s shares a close relation with him. He was moved when he heard the subject of the film and applauded Karan for making a film on such a subject.”

And we all know when Javed saab will write it will be a sensational song. As he is master of this art. We will be looking forward to hear the track.

All the Best Karan!!!!

Jimmy plays the role of SRK’s brother in MNIK

Jimmy Shergill got acclaim for his powerful act in ‘A Wednesday’ and now he’s an important role in the much talked about Karan Johar film ‘My Name Is Khan’ too.

Actually Jimmy’s co-star from ‘A Wednesday’ Aamir Bashir was supposed to play the role. But his loss turned out to be Shergill’s gain.

Aamir failed to secure an American visa and since the shoot was happening in Los Angeles and had to immediately proceed he had to be replaced.

If the buzz is to be believed, then Jimmy plays the role of SRK’s brother in the film MINK.

This is not the first time that Jimmy is acting with Shah Rukh. The two starred together way back in 2000 in Yash Raj Films’ ‘Mohabbatein’!

Shooting disrupted due to Shahrukh injury

Shahrukh Khan, who underwent a difficult and painful back surgery some years ago, is now destined to go under the scalpel again for a tear in the shoulder muscle. He suffered the injury in Mumbai when shooting a stunt scene for Mudassar Aziz’s Dulha Mil Gaya. But, as if keeping in mind the old adage ‘no pain, no gain’, Shahrukh continued shooting with occasional physiotherapy from his old friend Dr Ali Irani. Then, instead of resting, he flew to LA where he had a month-long schedule slated for Karan Johar’s My Name Is Khan. The LA winter did him in. He was taken to a hospital in pain where an MRI showed up the tear in his left shoulder. Now the actor is back and looking at undergoing a shoulder arthroscopy to repair the tear in his supraspinatus muscle.

Shahrukh Khan who dragged on in LA through the pain just so that Karan Johar’s shooting schedule might for MY Name Is Khan not get disrupted, admitted, “I was advised surgery, but pulled through on temporary medical assistance until I could not bear the pain any longer. I have to now go in for surgery in the next few days.”

He has no choice because the next schedule of My Name Is Khan requires the Bollywood Badshah to be fighting fit and performing all kinds of stunts. His doctors, of course, have advised him otherwise. “Inshallah, I’ll be fine,” smiled the hero.

Meanwhile, the Bollywood Badshah remains undaunted at the prospect of surgery. At the Asia West Pacific Regional Physiotherapy Conference organised by Dr Ali Irani of the Indian Association of Physiotherapy, he kept medicos, some 800 physiotherapists, delegates from 23 countries and students in splits by referring to all the injuries he has faced.

SRK:West is beginning to take Bollywood seriously

Shah Rukh Khan walked the red carpet at the Golden Globe Awards and also presented the award winning film Slumdog Millionaire. The superstar spoke to CNN-IBN hours before the event.

CNN-IBN: You are the first Indian star to grace the Golden Globe stage. What is your take on that?

Shah Rukh Khan: I am very honoured and at the same time I accept with full humility that I have not been called because of who I am, it is because Indian cinema is being looked upon with importance by the Western world now.

I just happen to be one of the faces of Bollywood and so they chose me. I am presenting the movie Slumdog Millionaire. First I was giving away an award but now I am presenting this film.

CNN-IBN: Slumdog Millionaire’s director Danny Boyle offered you the movie first. You were supposed to do the guest role initially. Any regrets?

Shah Rukh Khan: I would have loved to do the role but at that time I was doing Om Shanti Om so I couldn’t leave it mid way.

CNN-IBN: What do you think about the awards ceremony?

Shah Rukh Khan: They have been very gracious. I hope I don't make a fool of myself. I hope I don’t trip or fall on the red carpet. I am a very shy person, very odd at social gatherings. I am sure most of the people don’t know me there so I will just do my job and say hello to a few people who know me there.

CNN-IBN: My Name Is Khan is your next movie. Tell us something about it.

Shah Rukh Khan: Yes, it is a post-9/11 movie on Islam and Islamic people. The protagonist is called Khan and he vehemently says that he is called Khan. It is a different movie from all the films I have done so far.
